Margot Dougherty made a lot of quiches and bangers-and-mash in a shoebox of a restaurant kitchen in Newport, Rhode Island before fleeing to New York to become a writer/editor at, successively, Life, People and Entertainment Weekly. After a story on the real Crocodile Dundee, during which fresh-caught kangaroo meat was served under a bat-laden tree in the Top End, she moved to Sydney as an editor of Who Weekly, the Aussie People. She spent the last several years as the food editor of Los Angeles magazine and is now a freelance writer and editor living in Venice, Calif.
